San Diego
Wedding Photographer
Cinematic, magazine-worthy weddings — shot on Leica, Hasselblad & other film cameras.
Lulan Studio
Lulan Studio photographs weddings across San Diego County — the La Jolla bluffs, Coronado, Balboa Park, and the estates and wineries spread through the north county. We shoot 35mm and medium-format film alongside digital, and we plan San Diego days around the marine layer rather than pretending it is not there.
Film and the San Diego marine layer
San Diego has the softest natural light of anywhere we work, and film is built for it. Overcast mornings that look flat on a screen come back off film with real depth, and late sun over the water renders warm instead of orange. We shoot both formats through the day so the look is consistent from prep to last dance.

Every family tradition, photographed properly
San Diego weddings bring together a lot of different families, and we photograph all of them fluently — Filipino coin and cord ceremonies, Vietnamese and Chinese tea ceremonies, Persian Sofreh Aghd tables, Catholic Masses and Indian ceremonies that run across several days.

The coast is where most San Diego weddings begin. Cuvier Club and the Scripps Seaside Forum sit right on the La Jolla bluffs with the cove below. Across the bay, Hotel del Coronado and the Coronado Community Center give you sand and that unmistakable red-roofed silhouette, while the Lodge at Torrey Pines trades it for craftsman timber and the golf course bluff. Kona Kai Resort and Tom Ham's Lighthouse put the bay and the downtown skyline behind your ceremony. In Balboa Park, The Prado and the Japanese Friendship Garden offer arcaded courtyards and koi ponds that photograph beautifully even under a grey morning sky, and the San Diego Botanic Garden stays cool and green when the county is baking.
Drive thirty minutes inland and San Diego turns into wine and estate country. Orfila Vineyards and The Chateau Escondido in Escondido, Grand Tradition Estate and Los Willows in Fallbrook, Monserate Winery and Milagro Winery further north — these are the venues for couples who want olive trees and long tables rather than surf. Add L'Auberge Del Mar and Hyatt Regency La Jolla for hotel weddings, and Darlington House and The Thursday Club for smaller historic rooms. Our San Diego wedding venues page has the full set.
