Family Portrait Studio Los Angeles
Family portraits go better when nobody is rushed. We book one family per day inside our uniquely decorated studio on South Main Street, so a multi‑generational sitting, a toddler who will not stay still, or the dog who had to come along all get the same unhurried attention — finished with the magazine‑quality editing we bring to every frame.
An afternoon built around your family
Most family sessions fail for the same reason: twenty minutes on a paper backdrop with another family already waiting in the hallway. We do the opposite. One booking per day means the studio is yours, the sets stay dressed for you, and there is room to stop, change an outfit, feed the baby and start again without anybody watching the clock.
Three things you will notice
Uniquely decorated sets
Several contemporary and vintage setups stay built in the studio — a papered library corner, a florals wall, clean white cyc, deep jewel‑tone rooms. Your family is photographed on a set chosen to suit them, not on whatever backdrop happens to be hanging.
Hair and makeup on site
Optional on shorter sittings and included on the longest one. Having it done in the studio removes the worst part of portrait day — arriving already tired, already rushed, already worried about how you look in the first frame.
Magazine-quality editing
Every delivered frame is retouched by hand to the same standard as our editorial work — skin kept as skin, colour graded frame by frame, nothing run through a batch preset and sent out.

Multiple generations, one sitting
Grandparents, cousins, a new baby, the dog — tell us who is coming and we plan the timing and the posing around them. Larger groups get photographed first while the youngest are still fresh, then we break down into couples, siblings and single portraits while the rest of the family sits out of frame.
Pets are welcome. So are strollers, bottles, snacks and the bag of emergency outfits every parent already knows to pack.
The sets and the light
These are recent sittings photographed on the same sets, in the same light, that a family session uses. They show what the rooms actually look like on camera — the papered walls, the florals, the deep colour, the way a single soft source falls on a face.

Every frame above was photographed in this studio, on the sets and under the lighting a family sitting uses.

Turn your portraits into art
Alongside the digital gallery we offer a hand‑painted, oil‑painting‑style canvas: your favourite frame from the sitting worked into a museum‑style art piece, then printed and framed with archival materials so it holds its colour on a wall rather than in a folder.
Prints and albums are available in addition to your digital gallery.

Family portrait studio questions
How long is a family portrait session?
Full Digital Sessions run one hour. Signature and Signature+ sessions run two hours, which is usually enough for an outfit change plus a mix of full‑family and smaller group combinations.
What should we wear?
Coordinate tones rather than matching outfits exactly, and bring a backup outfit if your session includes a change. Our team can advise on colours that work well with the studio sets during your booking call.
How far ahead should we book?
Most portrait sittings are booked three to four months in advance, so reach out as soon as you have a date in mind. Only one family is photographed per day, which is what makes the calendar tight.
Can we include multiple generations or pets?
Yes. Multi‑generational sessions and sessions with pets are welcome — let us know who is joining so we can plan the timing and posing accordingly.
What if our kids will not sit still?
That is the normal case, not the difficult one. Because the studio is booked for one family a day, there is no pressure to get a toddler through a set in ten minutes; we photograph the big group early while everyone is fresh and work down to the smaller combinations as the session settles.
Where is the studio?
620 S Main St, Los Angeles, CA 90014, in downtown Los Angeles. You can reach us on (626) 662‑1844 or through the contact page to check dates.
Hold a date at the studio
One family per day, three to four months out. Tell us who is coming and roughly when, and we will come back with the dates that are still open.
