The Studio Team

Fifteen artists.
One studio.

You should know who is standing in the room on your wedding day. Everyone here works to one shared philosophy — quiet, film-minded, present for the moment rather than staging it — and the person you meet is the person who shoots your day.

How the studio is put togetherShow less

Lulan Studio is one team working out of one room in Downtown Los Angeles — photographers, videographers, and the production people who build your timeline and keep the day on it. We are not a booking agency that assigns a stranger to your date.

Everyone shoots to the same brief and edits to the same colour, so the artist whose eye suits your venue is a matter of fit rather than a matter of luck. Use the filters below to see who works in each part of the studio.

The work

Many hands.
One way of seeing.

Photographs and films, side by side — because they are made side by side. Our photographers and videographers scout together, plan together and shoot the same day, so the gallery and the film come back feeling like one story told twice. Use the arrows or the strip underneath to move through the work.

How we work

Fifteen people.
One way of working.

The short version is on the left of each line. Open any one of them if you want the part that actually matters on your wedding day.

One brief, one look

Every artist here shoots to the same brief, so a gallery from one photographer sits next to a gallery from another without a seam.

How we keep it consistentShow less

We shoot a shared set of reference frames before every season and grade to one profile, so skin, whites and shadow all land in the same place regardless of who was holding the camera.

New artists shoot alongside a lead for a full season before they take a wedding of their own. Nothing goes out of the studio without a second pair of eyes on the edit.

The person you meet is the person who shoots

You are introduced to your artist before you book, and that is who walks in on the morning of the wedding.

What happens if something goes wrongShow less

Illness and emergencies are rare, but they happen. Because everyone is in house and works to the same standard, the cover comes from this team and arrives already briefed on your timeline, your family list and your venue.

You are told immediately, and we would rather over-communicate than have you find out on the day.

Photo and film, planned together

Our photographers and videographers scout the venue together and shoot the same day, so the gallery and the film feel like one story.

Why that matters on the dayShow less

It means one set of directions to you rather than two. Nobody is competing for the aisle, and you are not asked to repeat a moment for the other camera.

It also means the film and the gallery share the same colour, so they sit side by side without one looking warmer or cooler than the other.

Backed up before we leave

Cards are cloned to two drives on site, and nothing is formatted until the gallery is delivered.

The full chain of custodyShow less

Every body records to dual cards during the day. At the end of the night the cards are copied to two physical drives before the crew leaves the venue.

Back at the studio the day is uploaded to cloud archive as well, so there are three copies before a single frame is touched in the edit.

Editing is done here, not sent out

Culling, retouching and colour all happen in the Downtown studio by people whose names are on this page.

What that means for turnaroundShow less

It is slower than an outsourced pipeline and we think it is worth it. Your artist reviews their own edit, so the frames that made them press the shutter are the frames that survive the cull.

You get a preview set within days and the full gallery on the schedule agreed in your contract.

One studio, one philosophy

Quiet, film-minded, present for the moment rather than staging it — that is the whole of it.

What that looks like in practiceShow less

We direct sparingly. Family groupings and portraits get the structure they need, and the rest of the day is left to happen.

Guests should notice the photographs afterwards rather than the photographer during. That is the measure we hold ourselves to.
