Christ Cathedral Wedding Photographer
Christ Cathedral in Garden Grove — the former Crystal Cathedral — is one of Orange County most dramatic places to marry. Designed by Philip Johnson and completed in 1980, its all-glass nave of roughly ten thousand panes floods the space with light. As a Southern California wedding photographer, I find few interiors this luminous.
A cathedral of glass and light
Now the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange, the cathedral seats over two thousand beneath its soaring transparent walls, and the campus includes a Richard Neutra-designed arboretum and reflective plazas. The architecture alone makes a ceremony feel monumental.
How we photograph a Christ Cathedral wedding
We work with the light streaming through the glass — wide frames that show the scale of the nave, and quieter portraits where the angular structure frames you. Outside, the mirrored exterior and arboretum give a completely different, softer set for couple photos.
Good to know
Cathedral weddings here are Catholic sacramental ceremonies with diocesan requirements, so couples coordinate details directly with the parish. We are happy to work within the cathedral guidelines and plan timing around the ceremony format.
