Catalina View Gardens
A cliffside estate in Rancho Palos Verdes with a working vineyard, olive groves, and open ocean views toward Catalina Island — a venue we’ve photographed a wedding at, set against one of the most dramatic coastlines in LA.
A working vineyard on the Palos Verdes bluffs
Set on the coastal bluffs of Rancho Palos Verdes, Catalina View Gardens pairs a genuine working vineyard — Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vines grown on-site — with olive groves, gardens, and sweeping views across the Pacific toward Catalina Island. The estate hosts one wedding per day, with both ceremony (an ocean-view lawn) and reception held on the property; an indoor space is available for cooler evenings alongside the open-air setup.
Because it’s fully outdoor, the venue books DJs only (no live bands, per local noise ordinance) and events wrap by 9:30pm. Catering and planning run through the venue’s own approved-vendor lists, while couples are free to choose their own officiant, photographer, videographer, and florist.

A cliffside wedding with a view of Catalina Island
We photographed and filmed a wedding here that made full use of the setting — a ceremony on the ocean-view lawn followed by a reception blending the vineyard rows and clifftop views, with a live string ensemble performing during the ceremony. The venue doesn’t restrict couples to an approved photographer list, which gave us the same creative freedom we’d have at a private estate. Golden hour is genuinely the best window here: the vineyard rows offer little shade at midday, so we plan portrait timing around the light rather than the schedule.
Good to know before you book
- Fully outdoor setup — a weather contingency (tenting) is worth planning for
- DJs only, no live bands, per local noise ordinance; events end by 9:30pm
- Caterer and planner must come from the venue’s approved-vendor lists
- Couples choose their own officiant, photographer, videographer & florist — no restriction there
Where we like to shoot
- The clifftop lawn with the Pacific and Catalina Island as backdrop
- The working vineyard rows, best in golden-hour light
- The stone entrance path, for softly reflected light
- The property’s fireplace feature for evening portraits
