What Makes Carondelet House Photograph So Well
Carondelet House is a 1920s Italian-style villa on the edge of downtown Los Angeles, and it shoots like a warm European interior: exposed brick, hardwood floors, high beamed ceilings, and fireplaces anchoring the main rooms. Once home to a prominent LA architect and later part of Otis College of Art and Design, the building kept its creative bones - there is texture in every direction you point a camera.
The spaces we plan portraits around
- The two courtyards - brick-walled and intimate, they give ceremonies and cocktail hours a tucked-away, city-garden feel, with soft open shade that flatters portraits.
- The great room - beamed ceilings, a fireplace, and window light raking across brick make this one of our favorite indoor portrait backdrops in Los Angeles.
- The hardwood interiors - warm floors and vintage furnishings mean getting-ready coverage and detail shots feel styled the moment you walk in.
Timeline advice for Carondelet House
Because Carondelet's beauty lives in its interiors and courtyards, the day is less hostage to sunset than at a garden venue - flattering frames exist here at every hour. We still protect a short courtyard window before dusk for couple portraits, then lean into the brick-and-firelight mood: this is a venue that rewards the candlelit, low-light hours most venues fight against.
