Avalon Hollywood Wedding Photographer
Some venues have a good backdrop. Avalon Hollywood has a marquee at Hollywood and Vine. Opened in 1927 as the Hollywood Playhouse (and later famous as The Palace), the Avalon pairs Art Deco bones with genuine concert-grade production - which means your reception is lit like a show, not a banquet. We have photographed weddings here with full photo and video teams, and it is one of the most theatrical rooms in Los Angeles when you know how to work with its light.
Photographing the Avalon's Spaces
The Main Theatre
Soaring ceilings, dramatic lighting, and an open floor that lets us shoot wide, cinematic reception frames most ballrooms cannot offer. The house production rigs are the star - first dances here genuinely look like a film premiere, and we expose for the drama instead of flattening it with flash.
VIP Lounges and Mezzanines
Elevated lounges overlooking the main floor give us angles no ground-level venue has: your reception from above, quiet balcony portraits, and candids of the dance floor in full swing.
Hollywood at Your Door
Step outside and the portrait options are pure Los Angeles: the Walk of Fame underfoot, the Capitol Records Building a block away, the Roosevelt and the Boulevard's neon after dark. We build a 20-minute exterior loop into the timeline - it is the set of frames couples end up printing.
Timing an Avalon Wedding
The Avalon truly shines during the reception, so we structure the day around it: daylight portraits outside on Vine Street or nearby (Griffith Observatory and the Hollywood Hills overlooks are short drives for adventurous couples), then let the theatre's production lighting take over after sunset. Getting-ready coverage typically happens at the Roosevelt or a nearby suite.

Avalon Hollywood Wedding FAQ
Is a dark theatre hard to photograph?
It is hard to photograph timidly. The Avalon's production lighting is an asset - we shoot it like the concert venue it is, and the results feel like a premiere, not a dim ballroom.
Where do the best portraits happen?
Three zones: the mezzanines overlooking the theatre, the Art Deco details inside, and the Hollywood and Vine streetscape outside - including the Capitol Records Building and the Walk of Fame.
Do you know the venue's photo logistics?
Yes - we have covered weddings here with both photo and video teams, so load-in, lighting cues, and timeline pinch points are familiar territory.
