The Lab 2026 · DV Club · Wedding camcorder

Pass the camcorder. We’ll make the film.

A camcorder arrives with our team on your wedding morning and goes to someone you choose. They film the day as only a guest can. At the end of the night we take it home and cut what they saw into a short film of its own.

Some of the best footage of your wedding will come from someone who was in it.

The speech rehearsed in the hallway. Table nine. The dance floor from the middle of the circle. Our filmmakers see a great deal — but a sister with a camcorder gets let into places a professional never is.

How it works

Nothing to ship. Nothing to return.

Because we’re already at your wedding, the camcorder simply arrives with us and leaves with us.

  1. 0:00

    We bring it

Charged, checked and empty, in a small bag with spare batteries and a shot-list card.

  2. 0:05

    You choose who

A sibling, a best friend, the cousin who films everything anyway. We show them the two buttons that matter.

  3. 2:30

    They roll

Getting ready to last song — or pass it around. Our team is in the room if anything jams.

  4. 9:58

    We take it home

Collected before we leave. No box, no label, no shipping counter the morning after.

  5. FIN

    We cut it

Our editors turn the tape into a short film, made to sit beside your wedding film and photographs.

Why it travels with us

The idea is wonderful. The logistics weren’t.

Mail-order camcorder kits made guest-filmed wedding video popular, and couples kept asking us for it. We kept the idea and took the parcel out of it.

A camcorder by mail

Another job on your list

Arrives
By courier, a few days before the wedding, to unpack, charge and test yourselves.
On the day
An instruction booklet and a support inbox if something stops working.
Afterwards
Boxed up and dropped at a shipping counter within a few days — usually by the couple.
The edit
Cut by an editor who has never seen your venue, your family or the rest of your day.

DV Club

Handed over, handed back

Arrives
In our team’s hands on your wedding morning, already charged and checked.
On the day
A photographer from our team in the same room, who can fix a jammed button in ten seconds.
Afterwards
Collected by us before we leave. You don’t touch it again.
The edit
Cut in our studio, by the team that photographed and filmed the same day — so it fits beside everything else we deliver.

The shot list

A card in the bag. Follow it, or don’t.

Six moments worth chasing. The best tape usually gets most of them and then wanders off after something better.

Who holds it

Choose a storyteller, not a technician.

01

Someone at everything

Getting ready, the ceremony, the speeches, the dance floor. A sibling or best friend who isn’t needed in every portrait is ideal.

02

Or nobody in particular

Pass it around. Some of the best minutes come from people who only held it for five — the grandparent, the flower girl, the groom’s college roommate.

03

A hand-off for the ceremony

If your camera person is standing beside you at the altar, they give it to someone seated for twenty minutes. We’ll remind them.

In the bag

Everything they need, nothing they don’t.

  • 01A camcorder, charged and checked that morning
  • 02Spare batteries, and more recording time than one day can use
  • 03A wrist strap — the single most important accessory
  • 04The shot-list card

Phase II · Base-rate offers

Built in The Lab.

DV Club is one of the services we’re developing in The Lab 2026. It runs at real weddings now, at a reduced base rate, while we refine it — and because the camcorder travels with our team, it’s added to Lulan Studio photography or film coverage rather than booked on its own.

Questions

Before you hand it over.

Is DV Club the same as hiring a videographer?

No. Your photographs and wedding film are made by our team exactly as they always are. DV Club adds a second, completely different point of view — handheld, unpolished, from inside the crowd — and we edit it into its own short film that sits beside the main one.

Who should hold the camcorder?

Someone who is at everything and doesn’t need to be in every portrait: a sibling, a cousin, the friend who never stops filming. Passing it around works too — some of the best minutes come from people who only held it briefly.

Does my camera person need any experience?

None. We hand it over switched on and point out the two buttons that matter. Press record, keep the strap on your wrist, get close to people. Our team is in the room if anything stops working.

What happens to the camcorder at the end of the night?

We collect it before we leave. There is nothing to box up, no return label and no shipping deadline — that is the whole reason it travels with us.

Can we book DV Club without Lulan Studio coverage?

Not at the moment. The camcorder arrives and leaves with our team, so it is added to a Lulan Studio wedding rather than booked on its own.

What does it cost?

Ask us on your call. DV Club is in Phase II of The Lab, which means it runs at a reduced base rate while we refine it. The rate you book at is the rate you keep.

Do you offer it outside Los Angeles?

Wherever we’re covering your wedding — Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, Santa Barbara and Las Vegas.
