About the venue

A historic ranch home with courtyards and fountains

The Hacienda was built in the early 1900s as a working ranch home, surrounded by orange and avocado groves. The long drive that once led to the house is now College Avenue in Santa Ana. In 1975 the home was restored to its original character, with courtyards, fountains, balconies entwined in ivy, fireplaces, grand staircases and antiques. The original living room, dining room and bedrooms are still part of the house, furnished with pieces from different periods.

Later additions give the property more to explore. The Taos Room, created in 1989 in the style of Santa Fe, has antique church doors and hand-carved columns, and the Cantina was once the tack room of the house. Ceremonies are held in the chapel area within the Inner Courtyard, and there is a dressing room for the wedding party. For photographs, the house offers a white cottage exterior, tiled rooms with beamed ceilings, and colorful rooms with window light.

A home full of rooms to photograph

We have photographed weddings at The Hacienda across several years, usually over six to seven hours with a photographer and often a videographer. Couples here tend to ask for a cinematic, editorial feel, and the house makes it easy to move from one look to another in a few steps: a pastel room with a window seat, a living room with a fireplace and dark beams, and the white cottage exterior at dusk. We plan the day around the time you can be on site, so portraits land in the best light.

How many hours of coverage do couples book at The Hacienda?

Six to seven hours covers most days here. Six hours suits a wedding with getting ready at the house or nearby, the ceremony and the main reception moments. Seven hours leaves room for getting ready coverage elsewhere and more of the dancing.

Should we do a first look?

It helps, especially when your time on site is short or the date is in winter. A first look lets us photograph you in the rooms of the house and by the cottage in good light, and leaves cocktail hour for your guests.
