LA River Center and Gardens Wedding Photographer
Spanish-garden weddings minutes from downtown Los Angeles — by Lulan Studio.
The Los Angeles River Center and Gardens sits at 570 W Avenue 26 in Cypress Park, minutes from downtown LA. Run by the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority, it is one of the city’s best-kept garden wedding secrets: Spanish Mission-style buildings, arched colonnades, a tiled fountain, and lush courtyard gardens that feel a world away from the freeway you just left.
We photograph weddings across Los Angeles, and the River Center is a venue we genuinely love. The architecture gives your gallery warm terracotta tones and deep shaded arcades, the gardens give it greenery in every direction, and the whole property photographs beautifully from the first getting-ready frame to the last dance.
Pros
- A true garden wedding minutes from downtown Los Angeles, with far more greenery per square foot than almost any DTLA-adjacent venue.
- Spanish colonnades, courtyards, and a tiled fountain give portraits variety without anyone getting in a car.
- Shaded arcades mean flattering, even light for portraits at nearly any hour, a big deal for midday ceremonies.
- Indoor and outdoor reception options let you plan confidently in any season.
Getting Ready at the River Center
The venue’s get-ready spaces open right onto the gardens, so prep coverage moves naturally from dress details and candids indoors to first-look photos under the trees. If you are getting ready at a hotel downtown, we split our team so both partners’ mornings are fully covered.

Couple’s Session in the Gardens
This property was made for a couple’s session: the long arched colonnade, the fountain courtyard, palm-lined paths, and dense garden greenery all within a short stroll. We usually shoot one short session right after the first look and a second at golden hour, when low sun rakes through the arches and turns the courtyard walls amber.
Wedding Ceremony
Ceremonies here happen on the garden lawn or in the main courtyard, with guests seated under open sky and mature trees. We scout angles in advance and cover the processional, vows, and first kiss from both sides without blocking a single guest view, and the gardens mean your wide shots are filled with green rather than city backdrop.

Wedding Reception
Receptions run from courtyard dinners under string lights to full indoor celebrations. We bring off-camera lighting so toasts, first dances, and a packed dance floor all read clean and true after dark, and before the night ends we steal you away for a five-minute night portrait by the fountain.

LA River Center and Gardens Wedding FAQ
Where do couples take photos at the River Center?
The arched colonnade, the fountain courtyard, the garden paths, and the lawn. Everything sits inside one walled property, so your portrait time goes to portraits instead of travel.
Is the River Center good for photos in the middle of the day?
Yes, and better than most outdoor venues. The deep shaded arcades give us soft, even light even at noon, and we save the open gardens for golden hour.
Does the venue work for both ceremony and reception?
It does. Most couples hold the ceremony on the lawn or courtyard and move to a courtyard or indoor hall for the reception, so the whole day stays on one property minutes from downtown LA.
How much does LA River Center wedding photography cost?
Our current wedding collections are listed on our rates page. Most couples choose a full-day photo and video package.
