Image Licensing
Every photograph on this site was made by us. Here is what couples already have, what everyone else needs to ask for, and how to ask.
Copyright stays with the studio
Lulan Studio owns the copyright in every image and film on this website. Nothing here may be copied, reproduced, redistributed, altered or published without our prior written consent. That is not us being precious about it — it is simply the default under copyright law, and it is what our Terms of Service already say. What follows is how to get that consent, and the cases where you may not need to ask at all.
You already have what you need
What is included
- Personal copyright in your images. You are free to print them, share them and post them yourself.
- No watermarks on anything we deliver.
- Prints and albums through us if you would rather not handle it — see prints and albums.
- You can ask us not to share your photographs publicly at all. Tell us your preference and we will honour it.
What is not included
- RAW or unedited files. We do not release them.
- Permission for a third party — a venue, a planner, a brand — to use your images commercially. That is a separate conversation with us.
- Reselling or sub-licensing the images to anyone else.
What needs a licence
Using our photographs on your website, in a brochure, on a listing profile or in paid advertising is commercial use and needs a written licence. We grant these often and usually gladly — venues we have worked with are the reason a lot of these images exist. Ask first and credit us.
Editorial use in a magazine, blog feature or newspaper needs permission, and we will normally give it quickly. We will ask for a credit to Lulan Studio and, where the couple's privacy is involved, we will check with them before saying yes.
Advertising, packaging, campaign work and anything else that puts our photographs behind a commercial message is licensed by negotiation, priced by use, territory and term. Tell us what you have in mind and we will quote.
Uses we do not permit without written permission
- Reproducing, redistributing or re-uploading our images anywhere, including as stock.
- Cropping out, obscuring or removing a credit.
- Altering an image so that it materially changes what it depicts, then publishing it as ours.
- Including our photographs in a dataset used to train machine-learning or generative AI models.
- Implying that we endorse a product, venue or service when we have not said so.
Requesting a licence
Email us through the contact page with the image or the page it appears on, where you want to use it, for how long, and whether the use is editorial or commercial. Most requests are answered within a couple of business days. If you already know you want something ongoing — a venue partnership, say — tell us that and we will set up terms once rather than image by image.
