About the venue

Twenty-five years, built almost entirely by hand

Château Noland began in 1993, when Chad Noland started building a hilltop estate above Avila Valley almost entirely by hand, inspired by architecture his family saw traveling to 46 countries in 1990-91 — especially the Loire Valley of France. The property now includes a Belvedere Tower, a private waterfall, and Pop’s Creek with a footbridge that’s become one of the most-photographed spots on the estate. It’s run today by Chad’s son Dan Noland and his wife Lindsey, both with hospitality backgrounds at the Four Seasons Biltmore and Ritz-Carlton Dana Point.

The château’s own history is baked into the property — the Paris Room contains a mural commemorating Dan’s 2002 proposal to Lindsey beneath the Eiffel Tower, which is where the “chateau” rebrand started. Couples get overnight, on-site accommodation for the bridal party across three master suites, a genuine differentiator from a rental-only venue.

A full wedding day on the hilltop

We photographed a wedding at Château Noland coordinated by Tiffany Wiere of Wiere Weddings, running getting-ready coverage through a first look, a roughly 45-minute ceremony, a group photo in front of the main house, cocktail hour, reception, and golden-hour couple portraits as the sun dropped behind the hills. On-site parking is genuinely tight during a live event, so we plan our own team’s arrival and gear staging around it rather than assuming easy access.

Good to know before you book

  • On-site parking is tight during events — plan arrivals and carpooling in advance
  • Full wedding packages typically include a two-night stay across the three master suites
  • Couples sign the Carriage House doors and receive a laurel wreath as a wedding-day tradition
  • No published in-house catering — couples generally bring in their own catering team

Where we like to shoot

  • The Belvedere Tower for a sweeping view over the estate
  • Pop's Creek footbridge for a quiet, storybook portrait
  • In front of the main house for the full group photo
  • The Paris Room, with its Eiffel Tower proposal mural
