Apply to join Lulan Studio
One form, one role, read by a person on our studio team against the requirements for that role — not against how the email is written. Everything we need is on this page.
As of 8 September 2026, every role below is open and we are reviewing applications. Because weddings run Friday through Sunday all year across Southern California, we recruit year-round rather than in seasonal batches — there is no closing date and no need to wait for a posting.
Have these six things ready
Anything missing and we cannot assess you, so the application is set aside rather than answered. It takes about ten minutes to gather.
- The one role you want. Not all of them. Applications sent to every role at once are declined.
- The city you are based in — and whether you can drive to Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, Santa Barbara or Las Vegas.
- How many weddings you have done in that exact role. Assisting or second shooting does not count toward a lead count.
- A link to one complete wedding — a full gallery or a full film, start to finish. Highlight sets and Instagram grids are not reviewed. Include the password if there is one.
- Your kit — bodies (say whether they have dual card slots), lenses, lighting and audio. Editors: your software and whether your display is calibrated.
- Whether you carry your own general liability and equipment insurance. Our venues ask us for a certificate before you are allowed on site.
How your application is read
A person reads it
Every application is opened and read by hand by someone on our studio team, against the published minimums for the role you picked. Nothing is auto-screened and nothing is auto-replied.
A fifteen-minute call
If you meet the bar, our studio manager emails you to set up a short intro call — your work, how our wedding days run, what the role pays, and where you would fit.
A paid day with a lead
Photographers, videographers and content creators come out on a real wedding beside a lead. Editors do a paid test on our own files. That day, not the portfolio, decides the hire.
Please do not call or DM about an application
Reading applications properly takes time. We do it by hand, between wedding weekends, and we do not work through them in the order they arrive — we read against the requirements. That means there is no queue position to give you and no status to look up, so calling the studio, texting, or messaging us on Instagram cannot speed anything up and takes our team off the couples they are working for that week.
Everything happens by email. If you are a fit for a role, you will hear from us at the address you give us — so please use one you actually check, and add info@lulanstudio.com to your contacts so our reply does not land in spam. If your circumstances change or you want to add a link, reply to your own confirmation email rather than sending a second application.
The studio phone line and contact form are for couples planning a wedding. Please keep them clear for them.
Send us your work
One role. One complete wedding. Your kit and your insurance status. That is the whole application — the form is directly below.
