About The Inn of the Seventh Ray
Nestled in Topanga Canyon along the banks of Topanga Creek, the Inn of the Seventh Ray has been one of Los Angeles’s most beloved romantic garden restaurants for decades. The property’s site has a storied past — local lore ties the land to evangelist Aimee Semple McPherson’s 1930s mountain retreat and to Topanga’s first church, before it was later reimagined into the lush, creekside garden restaurant guests know today. Its winding brick pathways, grand old sycamores, and flowing waterfalls have made it a go-to wedding destination for couples drawn to a bohemian, nature-immersed setting just a half hour from downtown LA.
Pros
Genuine creekside garden setting inside LA County — no drive to wine country needed for a lush, nature-forward backdrop
Three distinct courtyards (Fountain, Creekside, Waterfall Patios) let you vary the look of your ceremony, portraits, and reception without leaving the property
A decades-long reputation as one of LA’s most romantic restaurants means the space is designed, maintained, and staffed for exactly this kind of celebration

Planning a Wedding at The Inn of the Seventh Ray?
The Inn of the Seventh Ray is one of the Los Angeles-area venues on our radar for its creekside garden setting - see the galleries on this page and browse more of our work across Southern California. Below are a few common planning questions, plus how to check our availability.
How many guests can the Inn of the Seventh Ray hold?
Outdoors, the Fountain Patio and Creekside Patio combine to accommodate up to 250 guests, depending on your ceremony and reception layout. The two indoor dining rooms hold up to 48 guests for smaller, all-weather celebrations.
Can we bring in our own caterer?
No — the Inn provides all catering in-house. The one exception is dessert: you may bring in an outside wedding cake or dessert table, though a cutting fee applies (waived for brunch buffet events). The kitchen can accommodate vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free requests.
Is there a place for the wedding party to get ready on-site?
On-site preparation space is limited, since the venue operates as a working restaurant. Many couples get ready at a nearby rental or accommodation in Topanga Canyon and arrive at the Inn already dressed, saving the on-site time for final touches and portraits.
How do we check your availability?
Inquire availability or schedule a call - we respond within minutes. You can also review rates and collections.
